Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to make the role their own, develop their career trajectory and steer key business decision-making. 

The role will be varied and involve overseeing operational responsibilities, ownership of management accounts, and larger project-based work.

They will play a crucial role in developing and implementing processes that align with our long-term goals and support our growth and profitability. Identifying opportunities for improvement and capitalising on these. The selected Head of Finance will also play an active role in strategically growing the internal function.

Role and Responsibilities

The Head of Finance will be responsible for, either overseeing or performing, a wide variety, this will include:

  • Production and analysis of monthly management accounts and annual year-end accounts including review and sign-off
  • General reporting from PnL’s and other regular management information
  • Analysis and reporting results to Heads of and stakeholders to support business goals
  • Overseeing and responsible for bookkeeping tasks, sales and purchase invoicing and reconciliations, VAT & other tax submissions, AP and AR
  • Payroll activity including calculation of monthly commissions and New Starter/leaver payroll preparations
  • Responsible for all balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring cost base is always maintained
  • Provide critical support in making key business decisions, for example, by using financial modelling and scenario planning as we grow the business
  • Engage with commercial and legal issues as they arise including contract review
  • Utilising a continuous improvement mindset to develop processes and automation
  • Other ad-hoc duties as required for example general management of Accounts inbox, and answering queries

About You:

  • Fully qualified either ACCA, ACA, ACMA
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Confidence to liaise with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • All-round IT and Microsoft package knowledge. Strong Excel skills, including Financial Modelling and reporting
  • Experience working in the finance function in a growing business with turnovers of circa £10mil+
  • Experience with scenario planning and decision support for senior stakeholders and directors
  • Experience in dealing with urgent requests – adapting and prioritising your workload
  • Positive, driven, and ambitious with a growth mindset
